The Children’s Advocacy Center of Central Texas will get the final benefit from the second annual Bar-B-Que and Womenless Fashion show on Feb. 14.
The Children’s Advocacy Center of Central Texas continues to provide much needed services of Coryell county. Most are victims of serious physical or sexual abuse, as well as services to their non-offending family members.
Last year, the 12 men parading around the audience shamelessly begging for tips helped raise $2,500 for the center.
This year, the event will again be held at the Copperas Cove Civic Center, 1206 West Avenue B beginning at 6 p.m.
Local city and county official, bankers, law enforcement officers, fire department and EMS employees, as well as political candidates are on the slate to participate in this yearly event.
Lori Hix, from the Copperas Cove Police Department, said that they hope to raise at least twice as much this year. “Word has gotten out about the fun this is and hopefully people will show up and support us,” said Hix.
The “King of Queens” last year was Lasaro “Chief”Arriola, with Jeremy Alber and Rick Schwend finishing as first and second runners up.
Ida and Lavida, better known as Bill Price and Les Ledger, will be the fashion moderators.
There will be a silent auction as well as door prizes.
Tickets are $10 per person. They are available at the door or by calling 547-4603.
