Friday's Internet Edition, August 29, 2008. No new filings for city council, school board - No one else has signed up this week for the May city council or school board elections. That leaves Jean Durham, Charlie Youngs, Buddy Southards, and Ronnie Ray Gatewood are all competing for the council position place 5 that Fred Harris will exit when the term expires. Elections are scheduled for May 15. James Stockman and Jim Kanzenbach are running for the place 4 seat. Jon Gallen remains uncontested for the Place 3 position. Copperas Cove Independent School District has no new runners on the ballot as of Thursday afternoon. Joan Manning, Lynn Wessels and Kathi Nauert have filed for re-election. The district could avoid an election if no races are contested, but have joint election plans with the city. All Election Day voting will be held at City Hall. April 15 is the last day to register to vote in this election. March 15 is the last day to file for a ballot place. March 16 is the first day to apply for ballot by mail and May 7 is the last day. Early voting begins on April 28 and ends on May 11.
