Family members have set up a memorial fund for a 15-year old Evant girl who died this weekend following a vehicle accident on Highway 84.
Witnesses said that the accident occurred on Saturday afternoon when Cindy Simmerman and Josh Burton were in their car turning out onto Highway 84 from a store in Evant when another vehicle struck them.
Burton died instantly from the impact. According to witnesses, a five-year old was also in the vehicle, but the child was able to go home with only a broken rib.
Brandi Simmerman has set up a memorial fund at National Bank to help the family through their time of need.
“This is for those who want to help the family out, but don’t know where to go,” Simmerman said. “This will hopefully help out the family as they go through this hard time.”
Simmerman said that anyone wishing to donate something can do so through the memorial fund.
“They are going to be going through such a tough time with the loss of their daughter,” Simmerman said. “Since they probably won’t be at work for a while, this will help with their expenses.”
Funeral arrangements have been set for Wednesday at First Baptist Church in Evant at 2 p.m.
Cindy Simmerman will be buried at Layford Cemetary.
