brings home top award for sports photos

News editor - The Copperas Cove Leader-Press placed first place in Sports Photos and third in Feature Photos during the Texas Press Association conference last week.
This marks the third set of awards that the Leader-Press has won in the last two months.
The Leader-Press won seven awards total this year, all in the top three positions.
During the 77th Annual South Texas Press Association Conference in San Antonio, the Leader-Press received second place for News Coverage and third place for Best Advertising.
They also received honorable mention for Special Section.
The Leader-Press continued its winning streak at the Texas Gulf Coast Press Association convention held May 13-15 at Port Aransas.
Submissions were judged by the Panhandle Press Association.
The Leader-Press placed third for Special Sections, second for General Excellence and honorable mention for Headline Writing.
All submissions were representative of publications from the past year.
This is the third year in a row the Leader-Press has brought home at least one first-place plaque in state-wide competition. The newspaper was first in Sports Coverage in 2002, and in 2003 the Leader-Press was first in General Excellence and Routine Special Sections.
The Leader-Press has won many Texas Press awards over the years, and was named the state’s best paper in 1990.
