Relay for Life raises $44,820 - GATESVILLE – The 2004 Relay for Life, which took place Friday at McKamie Stadium in Gatesville, was termed a huge success by organizers. Light rain dampened the first half hour but brought cooler temperatures to the participants, for which all seemed grateful. Sandy Gately, chairperson of the 2004 event, said the Coryell County relay raised more than $44,819.75 for donation to the American Cancer Society. Teams from throughout Coryell County participated in the run/walk relay, which started at 6 p.m. last Friday and wrapped up at 2 a.m. Saturday.
