A string of graffiti was reported last week throughout Copperas Cove, adding up to $5,000 worth of damage.
“Several neighborhoods were affected throughout the city,” Lieutenant Eddie Wilson of the Copperas Cove Police Department said. “Most of it was located on the south and central portions of town.”
Included in the 14 reported cases were one police squad car, various passenger vehicles garage doors and Copperas Cove High School property.
Reports of the vandalized objects started reaching the police department at 7 a.m. on Sunday.
“The cases were pretty random, but they were all related to each other,” Wilson said. “One case involved a place near the high school field house,”
Wilson said that since the spray paint had already dried, it would be impossible to get off and that most owners will have to repaint the vandalized areas.
“We already have our squad car in the shop to get repaired,” Wilson said.
Wilson said that most of what was spray painted on the different cars were various obscenities.
“With this kind of damage, the estimated amount of damage is likely to rise,” Wilson said.
Wilson also said that currently there is an award up to $1,000 for any clues that help the police solve the cases.
“We don’t have any suspects as of yet,” Wilson said. “But if we get a tip, that person could get a reward up to $1,000 by calling our crime stoppers hotline.”
Anyone with information on any of the cases can contact crime stoppers at 547-1111.
