The City of Copperas Cove recently held a ribbon cutting ceremony at the new Time Warner Neighborhood Technology Center in the public library.
As part of the franchise agreement between the two entities, Time Warner donated five Gateway computers for a Neighborhood Technology Center at the Copperas Cove Public Library.
“Many people do not have access to computer technology or the Internet, thus creating a Digital Divide,” said Time Warner President Johnny Mankin during the ribbon cutting ceremony.
“The Neighborhood Technology Center will address Digital Divide issues that are pervasive in our urban community,” Mankin said.
He said the availability of computer technology, along with the high-speed connection provided by Road Runner High Speed Online allows local residents to gain access to additional computers and ultimately the World Wide Web.
“We’re making communities a better place to live, one neighborhood at a time, by giving children the opportunity to do homework as well as learn, grow and explore their full capabilities,” Mankin said.
“At the same time, we’re helping adults communicate, improve their work skills and stay connected with the world, family and friends.”
