Lockhart, Vitucci top CCHS grads

The Copperas Cove High School Class of 2003 is set to graduate during a ceremony at 7:30 p.m. on May 30 at the Bell County Expo Center.
Kelly Lockhart is class valedictorian with a grade point average of 5.07, while Nichole Vitucci is the class salutatorian with a GPA of 4.93
Lockhart, the daughter of Steve and Janie Lockhart, has lived in Copperas Cove for 16 years. She has one sister, Nikki.
During her years in high school, Lockhart was a member of the marching band. She was also a drill captain and drum major in the marching band. She was a member of the varsity clarinet section in the concert band.
Lockhart competed in the National History Day two years in a row, winning both second and first places, respectively, at national competition. She’s also been a member and an officer of the National Honor Society.
Lockhart participated in the Texas Aerospace Scholars and soloed a single engine airplane at the age of 16. She is a National Merit Scholar and appeared in the University Interscholastic League’s one-act play, Into the Woods.
Lockhart has received several scholarships and will attend Rice University in Houston after graduation. She said she is not sure which degree she will pursue but has an interest in science.
Vitucci, the daughter of Steve and Arlene Vitucci, has lived in Copperas Cove for most of her life. She has two sisters, Rachel and Anna.
During her years in high school, she was the saxophone section leader in marching band and a member of the varsity alto saxophone section in concert band.
Vitucci was a member of the National Honor Society during her junior and seniors years and was the co-chairperson of the tutoring committee.
She was a member of the French Club and was the sound technician for the UIL one-act play, Into the Woods.
Vitucci has received Fort Hood Area Military Family Member, Texas State Historical Association and Sprint/AUSA scholarships. After graduation, she will enter into the Liberal Arts Freshman Honors Program at the University of Texas. She will major in anthropology.
Other high - ranking graduates are Lorna Caryl Willie, Sean Patrick Phillips and Crystal Ann Crowder.
