- Funeral services for Fern Stavely, 69, of Copperas Cove were held Aug. 31 at Sheppard Funeral Home with Brother Dale Pruett officiating. Burial followed in the Kempner Cemetery.
Stavely died Aug. 28 in her Cove residence.
She was born Dec. 14, 1933, in Zenoria, La., to Archie and Nora Lee Pruett Bishop. She was raised and educated in Galveston, where she graduated from Ball High School. She married Alex "Bill" W. Stavely Sept. 2, 1950, in Galveston.
Stavely attended Eastside Baptist Church and was a lifelong member of the VFW Post 8577 Ladies' Auxiliary. She was a housewife and mother and lived in Cove since 1962.
She is preceeded in death by both parents. She is survived by her husband; two daughters, Deborah Carrigan, her husband Roy and Audrey Salinas, and her husband Eddie, all of Copperas Cove; a son, Alex W. Stavely Jr. of Copperas Cove; a sister, Nora Ann Fisher of Cottondale, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchilden.
The family requests that memorials be made to the American Heart Association.
