Everett

Michael W. Everett, age 31, of Copperas Cove died Saturday, September 14, 2002 at Temple Hospital.
Funeral services were scheduled for 2 p.m. September 17 at the Gatesville Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed at Bellwood Memorial Park in Temple.
Everett was born May 26, 1971 in El Paso. He grew up in El Paso and Copperas Cove and graduated from Copperas Cove High School in 1990. He resided in Copperas Cove since 1982. He married Wendy Turner on May 22, 1999. He worked at Trailways Bus Station in Killeen while he was a student. He has worked for TDJC in Gatesville at the Hughes unit for 12 years. He was a member of the Bluestem Baptist Church in Copperas Cove. He enjoyed all sports, especially baseball and football. He enjoyed street stock car racing and raced for 2 years at the Texas Thunder Speedway in Killeen. He enjoyed life, his family and his friends.
He is survived by his wife, Wendy Everett of Copperas Cove; mother, Margaret Everett of Copperas Cove; father, Jim Everett of McHenry, Md.; daughters, Madison Everett and Danielle Turner of Copperas Cove; a sister, Sherry Holland of Terra Alta, W. Va.; three brothers, Larry Everett of Waynesburg, Pa, Terry Everett of Kilbuck, Ohio and Clifford Everett III, of McHenry, Md. He was preceded in death by his maternal Grandparents, George Opie Walker and Mary Callison and by his paternal Grandparents, Clifford Everett I and Isabell Everett.

Heberling

Clayton (Clay) Heberling Sr. died at M.D. Anderson in Houston on Sept. 13. His family and friends gathered to celebrate his life during a visitation on September 16 from 6 - 8 p.m. at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple. Funeral Services were held September 17 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial followed in Temple Garden of Memories.
Heberling was born on Nov.26, 1933. He was born in Lyndon, KS. to Fred Heberling and Eula Longstaff Heberling. He attended numerous schools throughout Kansas and graduated from high school in 1951 in Berryton, KS. After high school, Mr. Heberling began farm work in his home state. He enlisted into the United States Army in 1955. He served during the Vietnam War and also received numerous medals including the Vietnam Service Medal with three Bronze Service Stars. He loyally served his country for 22 years. He married Miss Elizabeth (Liz) Sichuhr on Nov. 21,1955. After his discharge from the United States Army on June 30, 1974, Mr. Heberling worked for several years as a driver for West Texas Oil Fields. He also worked as a mechanic for Ventra Unified School District in Ventra, Calif. He worked eight years at Fort Hood and later in Port Hueneme, Calif. as a civil service employee. On June 30, 1972, Clay and Liz divorced and went their separate ways. He enjoyed wood-working, traveling, and working on his motor home and cars. . He collected ball caps and enjoyed yard work, gardening and fishing. Liz and Clay were remarried on Sept. 16, 1994 at Franks Lakeview Inn in Belton, after 22 years of being apart. At the time of his death, he was employed at Temple Independent School District as a diesel mechanic. He was preceded in death by his father on June 26, 1956; one daughter, Doris Heberling in 1958; his sister, Naomi Tarwater in 1990 and one grandson, Randy Heberling on October 11, 1994.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth (Liz) Heberling of Belton; daughter; Lorraine Ross of Little River - Academy, four sons; Clayton Heberling Jr. of Killeen; Charlie Heberling of Temple; Tim Heberling of Temple and Kevin Heberling of Temple. His mother, Eula Heberling of Ventura, Calif., his brother, Herb Heberling of Camarillo, Calif.; three sisters. Peggy Unrine of Ojai, Calif., Uella Harness of Largo, Fla. and Lois DeHart of Camarillo, Calif., 17 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and numerous nephews, nieces and friends.
The family request that in homor of Heberling’s giving spirit, memorials be made to The Lymphoma - Mycloma Society or St. Jude Children's Hospital at 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, Tn 381050 -1905.


Townsend

Dickie Lee Townsend, 49, died Sept. 11 at an Austin Hospital. Services were held Sept. 16 at Crawford Bowers Chapel in Copperas Cove.
Townsend was raised and educated in Walden, NY. He graduated from high school in Walden, NY. in 1971. He married Carol Ann Brush on June 21, 1972 in Newburg, NY. He served in the United States Army from 1974 - 1996, retiring as a SFC / E7 after over 22 years of service. He was currently working with Ratheon at Fort Hood, Texas and just celebrated his 30 year anniversary.
Townsend is survived by his wife, Carol Ann Townsend of Copperas Cove, two daughters; Cassandra Burton of Copperas Cove and Ashley Townsend of Copperas Cove, four brothers; Ralph Townsend Jr. of Mo., Douglas Townsend of N.C., Duane Townsend of Walden, Ny., and John Long of N. C.; and one sister, Linda D'Andrea of N.y. and two grandchildren.
Townsend was a member of the community since 1992 and a Methodist.

Ross

Graveside services for SFC James Ross, 70, of Copperas Cove will be at 10 a.m. Sept. 19 at the Copperas Cove City Cemetery, with Chaplain Captain Dallas Walker officiating. Services will be under the direction of the Sheppard Funeral Home.
Ross passed away Sept. 10 at the Darnell Army Community Hospital on Fort Hood.
He was born April 25, 1932, in Baltimore, Md., the son of James and Blanche (Bailey) Toyer. He was a Veteran of Korean and Vietnam War. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post #8577 and the D.A.V. in Copperas Cove.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Blanche Toyer.
Ross is survived by his wife, Delores E.(Harvey) Ross of Copperas Cove, one son, James Ross, Jr. of Corpus Christi; two sisters, Mary Davis of Baltimore, Md. and Jaqueline Cross of Baltimore, Md.; one brother, Theodore Ross also of Baltimore, Md., and two grandchildren.
