SFC (Ret.) John Wilbur Carpenter, 69,of Kempner died Oct. 23 at a Temple Hospital. Memorial services were held Oct. 28 at Crawford -Bowers Chapel in Copperas Cove, burial will be at a later date. Carpenter was born Feb. 5, 1933, in Charleston, W.V., where he was raised and educated, graduated from Stonewall Jackson High School, class of 1951 in Charleston, W.V. He served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955 and again from 1960 - 1979. Carpenter retired in 1979 with 26 years of service. He served in Vietnam and Korean Wars and retired to the Kempner area. Carpenter earned his associate degree at Central Texas College in 1984 in Applied Science and was a member of the VFW Post 8577 in Copperas Cove. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Carpenter of Kempner; three sons, John Christopher Carpenter of Kempner, Jack William Willis of Bloomington, Ind.,and Christopher C. Frost of Lampasas; five daughters, Teresa Diane O’Dell of Omlin, Ohio, Cheryl Lynn Day of Sunrise, Fl., Shirley K. Frost of Kempner, Mona Lavone Pryjda of New London, Ohio, and Elona Lynn Kozusko of San Antonio; one brother, Donald Ray Carpenter of Newark, Ohio; and two sisters; Dorothy Marie Basher of Zanesville, Ohio, and Mary Alice Creech of Zanesville, Ohio, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. |Hartsfield| Fay Mary Hartsfield, 69, died Oct. 23 at a Temple Hospital. Funeral services were held Oct. 30 at Crawford - Bowers Chapel, and burial will follow at a later date. Hartsfield was born Feb. 1, 1933. She was raised and educated in Mercer, Penn. and graduated at Sandy Lake Joint High School, class of 1952 in Penn. She attended college and became a registered nurse. Hartsfield served in the U.S. Army as a Captain/Nurse from 1963 to 1966. She came to Texas in 1969 and worked at Santa Fe Hospital in Temple and later retired from Darnell Hospital. Hartsfield was a charter member of Partnership for Drug and Violence Free, Copperas Cove, VFW 8577, Copperas Cove Citizens on Patrol Program and Elementary School Mentor in Copperas Cove and a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church. She is survived by her son; John Michael Hartsfield of Kempner; a daughter, Ronda Ann Hartsfield of Copperas Cove; one brother, Charles J. Guiler of Mercer, Penn.; and one sister, Sharon E. Boughner of Cochranton, Penn. and 2 grandsons. |Coet| Heidi Marie Coet, 33, died Oct. 21 at a local hospital. Funeral services were held Oct. 25 at First Baptist Church with Mark Kemp officiating. Coet was born March 10, 1969, Denver, Colo. She was raised and educated in Thornton, Colo. Where she also graduated from high school in 1987. She received her bachelor of Science degree in nursing from the University of Colorado Health Science Center in 1994. Coet entered the U.S. Air Force in June of 1994. She served her internship at U.S. Air Force Academy,and practiced nursing at Ellsworth Air Force Base in Rapid City, S. D. She completed flight nurse training in San Antonio in 1999 and held several nursing positions at both Scott & White Hospital and Austin Heart Hospital. Coet is survived by her parents; Walter P. and Linda Coet of Kempner; a sister, Denise Keenan of Thornton, Colo.; maternal grandfather; William Korbitz of Thornton, Colo; maternal grandmother; Elizabeth Wylie of Thornton, Colo.;and a paternal grandmother; Ernestine Coet of Copperas Cove. Memorials can be made to Right to Life. |Schneider| Edeltraud Elisabeth Maria Schneider, 78, died Oct. 27 at her residence. Funeral services were held Oct. 30 at Crawford- Bowers Chapel with burial following. Schneider was born Jan. 13, 1924, in Czechoslovakia where she was raised and educated. She lived in Vienna, Austria and married Elmer H.W. Schneider on Oct. 12 in El Paso. She was a homemaker and had been a member of the community since 1965. Schneider is survived by her husband; Elmer H.W. Scheider of Copperas Cove; a son, James E. Lynch of Alexandria, V.A.; two daughters, Anna Maria Kizer of Houston, and Vivian E. Cook; a nephew; Hans Ulrich Schmid of Ilminau, Germany; and a grandson, Robbie Lynch. |
