Clarence J. Spurlin, 76, of Temple died Nov. 9. Funeral services were held Nov. 11 at Crawford-Bowers Chapel in Killeen, with the Rev. Elton Lawson officiating. Spurlin was born Nov. 8, 1926 in Killeen where he was raised and educated. He was a retired painting contractor and worked for J's Used Cars and was a WWII veteran. Spurlin was an avid fisherman, family man and a member of the community for 76 years. He is preceded in death by his parents, Bessie and William Ellis Spurlin. He is survived by his wife, Winnie Spurlin of Temple; two daughters, Dolores La Fountain of Temple and Glenda Stevens of Harker Heights; a brother, Joe Charles Spurlin of Waco; three sisters, Mildred Deland of Killeen, Annie Mae Husung of Killeen, and Bernice McLaren of Provencal, La.; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Memorials can be made to Twin Cities Baptist Church in Temple. |
