Funeral services for Terence Owen Thomas, 45, of Cedar Hill were held Jan. 3 at Copperas Cove Christian Church with Rev. Frank Somera, Jr. officiating. The burial followed at Smith Cemetery in Kempner. Thomas died on Dec. 26 at his residence due to natural causes. Thomas was born Oct. 6, 1957 in Bad Kreuznach, Germany to B.J and Shirley Thomas. He was raised and educated in Okla., Texas, S.C., and N.J. He graduated from Killeen High School in 1975. Attended Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos and Texas State Technical Institute in Waco. Thomas worked as a diesel mechanic in the Dallas area for over 20 years. Thomas was survived by his parents B.J and Shirley Thomas. Cassens Funeral services for Alvin Albert Cassens, 95, of Copperas Cove will be held on Jan. 6 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, with Rev. Robert Wagner officiating. Burial will follow at Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery. Cassens died Dec. 30 at a local hospital. Cassens was born January 30, 1907, near Topsey. He was a rancher and farmer his entire life. He married Velma Lenora Mathias on Nov. 26 1931, and they lived in the Antelope community that was located on what is now Fort Hood. In 1942, they relocated to Topsey and have lived there since. He was active in Immanuel Lutheran Church and was a life long member there. Cassens was preceded in death by brothers Alfred Cassens and Gerhard Cassens; sisters, Louise Krempin and Frieda Frase. He was survived by his wife of 71, Velma Cassens of Copperas Cove, sons Delton Lee Cassens of Copperas Cove, Ray Cassens of Plano, Dean Cassens of Boise, Idaho; daughter Gloria Hull of Austin; sister, Hilda Nauert of Copperas Cove; eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church, 922 Lutheran Church Rd., Copperas Cove, TX 76522. Davis Funeral services for David Allen Davis, 87, of the King community, were held Jan. 6 at the King Baptist Church with Rev. Charles McKamie officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow at King Cemetery. Davis died Jan. 3 at his residence. Davis was born on Oct. 14, 1915, in Hollis, Okla. to the late Rochelle and Ora Belle Miller Davis. He was raised and educated in Megarel. He married Mary Reamer on Oct. 6, 1946. Davis entered the Army in January of 1941, served in WWII with the 36th Infantry Division, until being discharged in 1945. He re-enlisted in the Army in 1949, serving in combat during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. Before his retirement in 1967 he was an R.O.T. C Instructor at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville. Davis was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star for Valor. He and his wife have resided in the King community since 1988. He attended the King Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife Mary Davis of King; daughter, Mary Petty of Hutto; sons, Fred Davis of Copperas Cove, Steve Davis of King, Tom Davis of King, and Richard Davis of Copperas Cove; brother Garland Davis of Bridgeport; sister Rubye Lovern of Oceano, Calif.; thirteen grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren. Millen A private family service was scheduled for Robert Armound Ram Millen, 84, of Copperas Cove. Millen died at a Killeen hospital on Jan. 4 from natural causes. Millen was born April 10, 1918, in Watertown, N.Y. were he was raised and educated. He served in the United States Army, WW II, Korea, and Vietnam wars. He married Marianne Augusta- Lieske on Sept. 25, 1948, in Germany. His decorations and awards include two Purple Hearts, Bronze Star Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Clasp, Bronze, 5 Loop; Expert Rifle and Vietnam Service Medal with three Bronze Service Stars. Re retired on Jan. 2 1973 with over 32 years of service. He worked 12 years at Central Texas College. Millen was of the Lutheran denomination and a member of the community for 33 years. Millen was survived by his wife Marianne Millen of Copperas Cove, son Gerry Millen of Copperas Cove, daughter Diane Lovett of Copperas Cove, four grandchildren and three great- grandchildren. |
