TUPELO, Miss. — Services for Jimmy Lamar Hall, 55, of Birmingham, Ala., formerly of Tupelo, who died Saturday, Jan. 18, 2003, at Brookwood Medical Center in Birmingham, were held Wednesday at W.E. Pegues Funeral Home’s Jefferson Street chapel in Tupelo with Elders Roger Browning and Larry Wise and the Rev. Rick Latham officiating.
Interment was in Glasgow Cemetery at Hopewell Primitive Baptist Church in Pontotoc County.
Hall was born Jan. 7, 1948, in Randolph, the son of Jesse Ray and Ava Houpt Hall. The Halls are former residents of Copperas Cove and Kempner, and have family in the area.
He was a graduate of Randolph High School. Hall received his bachelor’s degree from Mississippi State University and his master’s degree from the University of Mississippi.
Hall was a math teacher, guidance counselor and assistant principal at Milam Junior High School. He was a principal at Rankin Elementary School and Tupelo Middle School. He retired from education in Mississippi in 1997 after 27 years.
He moved to Birmingham and served as principal of Columbiana Middle School in Shelby County for five years. He retired from education in Alabama in 2002.
Hall was a former junior varsity football coach at Milam. He was an assistant soccer coach for the Tupelo Youth Soccer Association for numerous years.
He enjoyed traveling, Mississippi State football, fishing, hunting and playing practical jokes on friends and family.
Hall was a Primitive Baptist.
Mr. Hall was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Kenneth Hall; maternal grandparents, Clarence and Jimmie Aplis Houpt; and paternal grandparents, Jesse G. and Ada Hall.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda McCord Hall; one son, Samuel Ray Hall, and his wife, Tara, both of Houston; three aunts, Leona Davis of Pontotoc, Evelyn Hoing of Randolph, and Faye Goodman of Fallon, Nev.; one uncle, Judson Houpt of Randolph; and several cousins and friends.

Funeral services for Francis Browning Stewart, 67, of Kempner were held Jan. 20 at Grace United Methodist Church with Rev. Stephen Schmidt and Cheryl Manard officiating. Stewart died Jan. 16 at his residence due to natural causes.
Stewart was born Nov. 14, 1935, in Rockport. He was raised and educated in Igleside. Stewart was a homebuilder in Copperas Cove and Austin for 39 years. He is a member of the Kempner United Methodist Church and has been a member of the community since 1964.
Stewart was survived by his wife Anita Stewart of Copperas Cove; son Josh Stewart of Austin and daughter Dianne Kerzee of Kempner. He was also survived by brothers Thomas Stewart of Rockport and Herbert Stewart of Kerville; sister Myrtle Wendell of Rockport and four grandchildren.

|ELDRED 'GUS' OLDHAM|

A memorial service for Eldred “Gus” Oldham, 70, of Temple will be held on Jan. 25 at Belton Church of Christ with Rev. Joe Baisden officiating. Cremation will follow.
Oldam was born in Killeen and has lived in the Temple and Killeen area for 50 years. He graduated from Texas A&M University. He was employed as the District Manager of the Social Security Office in Bell County. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War.
Oldham is a member of the Church of Christ and been a member of the Temple community for 50 years.
Oldham was preceded in death by his parents Milton and Lyndon Oldham and sisters Barbara Jean Hooten and Mauverine Oldham.
Oldham was survived by his wife Dorene Oldham of Belton, daughters Nikki Wilson of Las Vegas, Nev. and Tonne Torres of Houston and one grandchild.
