- • Smothers •
Funeral services for Mary Elizabeth Smothers, 71, of Copperas Cove will be held March 14 at Sheppard Funeral Home. Burial will follow the service at Copperas Cove Cemetery. Smothers died March 10 at Scott and White Hospital.
Smothers was born on January 31, 1932, in New Martinsville, Wis. She worked as an OB/GYN clinic receptionist. She was a member of the Baptist denomination.
Smothers was survived by husband Henry M. Smothers Sr. of Copperas Cove, daughters Sandra Lynn Sagerian of Pasadena and Jamie Marie Thompson of Simpson, La., sons Henery Marshall Smothers Jr. of Kempner and Scott Eugene Smothers of San Antonio, 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

• Armstrong •
Robert Leon Armstrong III, the infant son of Robert L. Armstrong Jr. and Shirley L. Armstrong of Copperas Cove, died March 5 at Darnell Hospital. Services will be held at a later date in Cullman, Ala. Armstrong was born Jan. 20 at Darnell in Fort Hood. He is survived by his brothers, Jeffry Murphy and Joshua Hall, both of Copperas Cove, his sister Rebecca Armstrong of Copperas Cove, paternal grandparents Robert and Ginger Armstrong of Cullman, Ala., maternal grandparents Robert and Martha Thompson of Beaver Dam, Ky. and paternal great - grandmother Hazel Doyle of Cullman, Ala.

• Smith •
Goldie M. Smith, 92, of Copperas Cove died March 6 at Metroplex Hospital. Services were held March 12 at 2 p.m. at Purse Funeral Home in Tecumseh, Mich.
Smith was raised and educated in Missouri and Oklahoma. She married Roscoe Arthur Smith on July 21, 1938. She was a housemaker and a farmer's wife. She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Adrian, Mich., since 1996.
She was preceded in death by her husband Roscoe Arthur Smith, six brothers, three sisters, both parents and one grandson. She is survived by her son Donno Arthur Smith of Tecumseh, Mich.; daughter Doris L Scott of Copperas Cove; one sister, Sylvia Thompson of North Bend, Ore., 5 grand children and 7 great grand children.

• Gent •
Darrell Taylor Gent, 88, of Mullin died March 7 at Brownwood Regional Medical Center. Services were held March 9, at 2 p.m. at Crawford Bowers Chapel in Copperas Cove. Gent was born on August 10, 1914, in Moody to William Fred Gent and Mary Alice Rowe. He was married to Fannie Cantrell on June 7, 1937. After Cantrell passed away in 1985, Gent married Floy Higgins in 1987. He served in the U.S Navy during WWII and later became a rural mail carrier.
He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Sandra and husband Richard Cartwright of Early and Wanda Foster of Copperas Cove; four grandchildren; a number of great grandchildren; two step children, Cindy Pennington of Fort Worth and Mike Pennington of Fort Worth; and one brother, Owen Gent of San Antonio.

• Doctor •
Linda Gail Doctor, 53, of Copperas Cove died March 7 in a Temple Hospital. Services will be held on March 13 at 10:30 a.m. at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Copperas Cove.
Doctor was born in Dothan, Ala., on October 8, 1949, then raised and educated in Fort Hood and Copperas Cove. She was a homemaker. She is survived her two sisters, Mary Alice Edwards of Copperas Cove and Alma Ruth Parker of Bellglade, Fla.

• Millen •
Gerhard Robert Millen, 55, of Copperas Cove died March 9 at a local hospital. There will be no services held.
Millen was raised and educated in Watertown, NY. and El Paso. He served two years in the U.S. Air Force and is a veteran of Vietnam. He attended the University of Texas. He lived in Copperas Cove from 1969 to 1972. He then moved to Houston to pursue a business partnership. He was married to Maureen Marie Miehl on April 3, 1977, in Alvin. He owned and operated three Hi Lo Auto Parts franchises in Alvin, Baytown and Houston from 1979-1999. He moved back to Copperas Cove in 1999.
He is preceded in death by his father. He is survived by his wife Maureen Millen of Copperas Cove, mother Marianne Millen of Copperas Cove, son Jason Robert Millen of Bridge City, daughter Beverlie Anne Millen of Baytown, daughter Jody Lee Millen of Austin, sister Dianne Ruth Lovett of Copperas Cove and one grandchild.

• Purcell •
Shirley Ann Purcell, 67, of Copperas Cove died March 5 at Metroplex Hospital after a lengthy illness. Services were held March 8 at 2 p.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Copperas Cove. Father Barry Cabel officiated. Cremation followed.
Purcell was born September 25, 1935, in Wink to Jim and Pauline Mulkey. She graduated in 1954 from Odessa High School and married Jack L. Purcell on June 12, 1954. She moved to Copperas Cove in 1988 after residing in Ruidoso, London, Riyadh, and Tehran and had a lifelong involvement with international travel and the arts. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Copperas Cove.
She is survived by her husband, two sons, Jackie Purcell of Copperas Cove and Mark Purcell of College Station; two daughters, Denise Westphal of Baton Rouge and Courtney Purcell of Copperas Cove; a brother, Tom Mulkey of California; a sister, Wanda Graves of Weatherford; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

• Harker, Jr. •
John Leroy Harker, Jr., 59, of Copperas Cove died this month in his home. Services were held March 8 at 10 a.m. at Crawford Bowes Chapel in Copperas Cove. Chaplain Dar Evans Officiated.
Harker Jr. was born on May 8, 1943, in Jamestown Pennsylvania. He was raised and educated in Gary, Ind., where he attended Emmerson High School. He retired after 22 years in the U.S. Army as a Master Sergeant in 1990 and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. Harker was a life member of the American Legion Post 582 and the Disabled American Veterans Post 211, both of Copperas Cove.
He is preceded in death by his father, John L. Harker, Sr.; his stepfather, John Cadwallader and his brother, Gary Cadwallader. He is survived by his wife, Genia Harker of Copperas Cove; mother, Marie Cadwallader of Portage, Ind.; son, Roland "Ronnie" Harker of Beeville; three daughters, Nancy "Connie" Harker of Copperas Cove, Jeanie Ray of Copperas Cove and Terri Nicholson of Chesterton, Ind.; four sisters, Mary Halaschak of Hobart, Ind., Linda Lambert of Marshall, Ill., Kathy Thompson of Valpariso, Ind., and Bonnie Kirk of Lake Station, Ind.; and one grandchild.
