Metroplex Health System

Metroplex Health System is the primary healthcare provider for Coryell, Bell and Lampasas counties, offering a wide array of medical and wellness services. The 213-bed, multi-campus facility is a not-for-profit Christian orginization operated as a community service by the Adventist Health System, which manages more than 560 hospitals worldwide. Like other Adventist-operated hospitals, Metroplex is committed to meeting the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of the people it serves. The health system's 850 employees, and its medical staff of more than 90 physicians in 32 specialities, make up Metroplex Hospital in Killeen; Rollins Brook Hospital in Lampasas; Metroplex Urgent Care Center in Killeen; the Pavilion ( a full- service mental health facility for all ages) in Killeen; HomeCare ( a home health facility) in Harker Heights and Lampasas; MetroFlex Rehabilitation Center ( a physical, occupational and speech rehab center) in Killeen; MetroKids Pediatric Rehabilitation Center (a physical, occupational and speech rehab center) in Killeen; and a Mobile Wellness Unit, which takes healthcare and education to people who might not otherwise be able to access it.


As the largest healthcare center in the Metroplex system, Metroplex Hospital is a 117-bed, modern, acute-care facility with high-end, state-of-the-art equipment and technology. It offers a full-service emergency room, cardiac care centers, general and same day surgery suites, a birthing center and a radiology lab equipped with advanced diagnostic imaging capabilities.
The center recently added a new-state of-the-art Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and offers CT scans, nuclear medicine techniques, a cardiac-cath lab for diagnosing heart blockage and other heart-related problems, x-ray imaging, ultrasound and mammography. The mammography center is ranked in the top six percent in the nation.


Metroplex also has an extensive on-site laboratory, pharmacy, cardiopulmonary care and skilled nursing unit.
Other services include a maternity program, wellness classes through the Community Wellness Series, Prime of Life senior health programs, a sleep lab, a cardiac rehab unit and a gerontology-psychiatric unit.


Metroplex Health System cares for about 80,000 patients each year and is a participant in the Scott & White Health Plan/Senior Care/Metroplex Choice and most other major plans. Members of the Scott & White Health Plan can choose to be treated by Metroplex physicians and facilities.


MHS shows its commitment to community wellness by providing many wellness classes each month ~ most at no charge. The system organizes a variety of annual events, including the Silver Classic 5K Run/Walk in March, Time Out for Total Women in April, the MHS Foundation Golf Tournament in May, Lampasas Health Fest in June, Rollins Brook Community Hospital Tournament in September KidFest Health and Safety Fair in October, the Foundation Gala in November and Lovelights in December.


Metroplex Health System is growing with the community to meet healthcare needs. A new three-story, $7 million cancer center is scheduled to open its doors in January at the Hospital. The first floor, to be called Scott and White Cancer Center, will house a radiation oncology program that includes offices for radiation and oncology physicians, exam rooms, a linear accelerator, a simulator and outpatient chemotherapy services.The project is a joint venture between Metroplex and Scott & White Memorial Hospital in Temple. The second floor will contain medical offices for a Metroplex obstetrician, cardiologists and opthalmologist. A third floor is being added for additional physician office space.


Other Metroplex Health System facilities include the Rollins Brook Community Hospital, the Metroplex Pavilion, HomeCare, Metroplex Urgent Care Center and MetroFlex and MetroKids physical rehab centers.

A recent $3 million expansion to the existing facility at Rollins Brook Community Hospital in Lampasas added 15,500 square feet to the previous 18,067-square-foot structure. The two- story addition features a larger emergency room, radiology department and laboratory. The second floor includes eight new patient rooms. This 25-bed facility provides a wide array of general healthcare services and same day surgery to residents of Lampasas area and surrounding counties.


The Metroplex Pavilion, located behind Metroplex Hospital, recently added gerontology-psychiatric treatment to its services, which include mental health treatment plans for children, adolescents and adults.


MetroFlex Rehalibitation Center, located at 1200 E. Cen-Tex Expressway, provides adult physical, occupational and speech therapies, while MetroKids, located at 1003 Medical Drive in Killeen, offers the same to children.


Homecare of Metroplex, located at 200 Nola Ruth in Harker Heights and at Rollins Brook Community Hospital in Lampasas, offers in-home patient healthcare.


Metroplex Urgent Care Center, located next to the Killeen Mall at the corner of W.S. Young Drive and U.S Highway 190, offers occupational medicine services and treats minor emergencies, The clinic is open seven days a week and no appointment is necessary.
